The Highlights Of ONE Warrior Series 6

Viet Anh Do One Warrior Series June 2019 131

Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series (OWS) returned on Thursday, 20 June with a stunning card full of highlight-reel finishes.

The OWS 6 card saw some of the best up-and-coming martial artists in the world step into the ring and hold nothing back as they aimed to impress and earn a ONE Championship contract.

That meant fans were treated to some incredible finishes – 12 in total on the night – along with some entertaining, back-and-forth battles that went to the scorecards.

These are the standout moments from an epic card in Singapore.

Xie Comes Back From The Brink

“Keyboard Man” Xie Xiaxiang had to weather an early storm from Nat Natchayangkul in the first round of their welterweight contest, which included heavy ground and pound and knee strikes to the head.

However, the Chinese athlete absorbed it all and continued to fend off his rival’s attacks in the second stanza. When he managed to roll and find the top position, he made his own offense count.

Natchayangkul was visibly tired from his relentless output, and Xie took advantage with a series of punches and elbows to secure a from-behind victory.

Law’s 14-Second Finish

Malaysia’s Jace “JKO” Law stepped up to the plate with just five days to prepare for his match with Jong Heon “Jeager” Kim, but he had no intention of testing his gas tank.

Kim threw the first kick, but Law responded with a furious volley of punches that backed his man up, then a hard right hook dropped the South Korean to the canvas for the finish in just 14 seconds.

Takano Submits Ferreira Despite Valiant Resistance

Satomi “Sarami” Takano and Michele “Fera” Ferreira both earned Warrior Bonuses for their fiercely-contested battle in Singapore.

The Brazilian landed hard shots from the bottom in round two, but Takano worked past her opponent’s guard, and then attacked for an armbar from side control.

Ferreira resisted with all of her might and tried to knee her way out of trouble, but the more experienced Japanese athlete finally rolled her opponent over to finish the submission.

Do’s Beautiful Three-Strike Combo

Viet Anh Do stopped Tae Ho Bak in the first minute of their flyweight encounter after being on the receiving end of some good strikes from the South Korean.

Do returned fire quickly. He countered Bak’s right hand with an overhand right of his own, followed by a left hook and a thudding low kick. Bak stumbled backward, and the Vietnamese athlete finished the job with another left hook that sent his man down.

Banguigui’s One-Shot KO

Dave “Kintas” Banguigui dominated Susovan “Lil Tiger” Ghosh en route a spectacular second-round knockout.

The Filipino pummeled Ghosh with ground and pound before he latched on to a choke that allowed the Indian to stand back up.

The submission attempt failed, but a battle-worn Ghosh did not have the stamina to defend himself when a looping right hand connected with his skull and dropped him face-first to the canvas.

Stoic Seo Blasts Johany

The only thing that was more impressive than “Honey Bee” Ji Yeon Seo’s third round TKO over Edilah “Ilah” Johany was the composed manner in which she picked her rival apart.

The South Korean may be the most relaxed athlete in OWS. She controlled Johany with her crisp boxing and never changed her expression — not even when she landed a picture-perfect straight right hand to secure the late stoppage victory.

Zoltsetseg Unleashes His Hands For Main Event Win

In the evening’s main event, Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg faced Hyunjin “The Lion” Lee in a featherweight contest.

The Mongolian waited patiently for the right moment to explode on his South Korean rival, but he did not have to wait long, as he moved forward and unleashed his elite-level boxing in the first round.

A darting straight left and right hook started the finishing sequence, and then Zoltsetseg punished his rival with hard right hooks to the body to secure the finish after just 78 seconds and earn a six-figure ONE Championship contract.
