The Triple-Knockdown Special

“JT” made her ONE Super Series kickboxing debut in May 2019, and she did not disappoint.

The Boxing Works representative took on Wang Chin Long in an atomweight bout at ONE: WARRIORS OF LIGHT in Bangkok, Thailand, and she left no doubt about her dominance from start to finish.

In the opening round, Todd repeatedly caught Wang with jabs, hooks, and low kicks to the lead leg, and she fearlessly powered through her opponent’s attacks.

“JT” was clearly in command, and she used that advantage to knock Wang down three times in round two. First, a hook and low kick dropped the Chinese athlete to the canvas, and another knockdown soon followed courtesy of a high kick.

The youngster returned to her feet once again, but there was no stopping Todd. The American connected with another low kick to Wang’s damaged lead leg, which caused the third knockdown of the stanza and the automatic TKO victory.

‘JT’ Stings ‘Killer Bee’

Todd continued to display her kickboxing skills in a ONE Super Series match-up with “Killer Bee” Chuang Kai Ting at ONE: MASTERS OF DESTINY in July 2019.

Facing a former ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion was no easy task, but “JT” was up for the challenge. That was evident in the early going, as she accented her combinations with leg kicks, brilliantly countered her opponent off the back foot, and grabbed Chuang for a quick knee in the clinch.

The California native then stepped up her attack in the second round, catching “Killer Bee” with an array of knees and kicks. Even when the former titleholder tried to check a kick, Todd attacked the opposite leg and cleverly swept her to the mat.

The tables began to turn in the second half of the match – as Chuang fiercely pressed forward with her boxing combinations – but “JT” ultimately kept her composure and continued to land impressive strikes.

While “Killer Bee” continued to dart forward with punches in the final stanza, the American used her distance to offset those attacks and even landed some jumping knees. In the end, Todd left the ring with a majority decision.

Todd’s Perfect Head Kick

Todd certainly gave the fans in Tokyo, Japan, their money’s worth at ONE: CENTURY PART I in October 2019.

Despite her reach disadvantage in a Muay Thai match-up with Ekaterina “Barbie” Vandaryeva, “JT” was aggressive from the start. The American landed punches and knees on the inside, and she quickly found a home for her leg kicks.

“Barbie” landed her fair share of strikes, especially when she ran forward with her punches and body kicks. However, Todd’s leg kicks started to affect the Belarusian, who slowed down toward the end of the opening frame.

The American looked even crisper in the second round. She diversified her kicks and cleanly landed jabs, right crosses, and left hooks to the head of her tiring opponent.

In the final minute of the period, “JT” threw a jab to distract her adversary – and then suddenly launched a stunning strongside kick to Vandaryeva’s head.

The extraordinary strike sent “Barbie” stumbling to the canvas, and just like that, it was all over.

Todd Wins Rematch – And World Title – Against Stamp

After losing the inaugural ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Title bout to Stamp Fairtex in February 2019, Todd got her shot at redemption by challenging for Stamp’s ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Championship a year later.

In the biggest bout of her career to date, “JT” certainly delivered, producing sharp boxing and high kicks throughout the five-round affair at ONE: KING OF THE JUNGLE in Singapore.

Early on, it was clear the American had learned from her defeat, as she kept the reigning World Champion at bay with punches while managing to avoid danger.

That quickness continued to pay off in round two, as Todd landed boxing combinations and low kicks before catching Stamp’s jaw with a high kick.

The Thai managed to turn things around, connecting with jab-cross combinations and painful low kicks. However, “JT” stayed mentally strong and continued to use her own jabs and high kicks.

Then, with the World Title still up for grabs in the fifth, Todd seized the moment.

Despite Stamp landing her share of strikes, “JT” was simply better, using quick punches, lightning-fast head kicks, and her jab-cross to gain the upper hand.

In the end, it was enough to get the job done, as Todd earned redemption against Stamp – and the first World Championship of her professional career – with a gutsy split decision victory.
