5 Things You Definitely Don’t Know About Petchtanong Petchfergus

Six-time Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion Petchtanong Petchfergus

Petchtanong Petchfergus will make his ONE Championship debut against Capitan Petchyindee Academy in a bantamweight kickboxing clash at ONE: A NEW BREED III this Friday, 18 September.

If he gets the win, the 34-year-old could enter ONE’s Athlete Rankings in the bantamweight kickboxing division, which is currently ruled by Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov.

Before Petchtanong attempts to do so at the previously recorded event in Bangkok, Thailand, here are five interesting things that die-hard martial arts fans should know about him.

#1 He Holds A Bachelor’s Degree In Sports Science

Petchtanong is a rare Muay Thai fighter who’s taken his love of training beyond the gym.

The Thailand native graduated from The Institute Of Physical Education Samutsakorn with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Science.

Since then, he’s been using his knowledge to help people from all walks of life get and stay in shape, but not only in “the art of eight limbs.”

Petchtanong played a role in the strength and conditioning training of Superbon before the latter made his victorious ONE Super Series kickboxing debut against Sitthichai “Killer Kid” Sitsongpeenong.

The 34-year-old owns an incredible professional Muay Thai and kickboxing record of 356-55-1.

Petchtanong started Muay Thai when he was 7 years old, and by the age of 14, he was headlining events at Bangkok’s Lumpinee and Rajadamnern Stadiums.

Throughout the course of his storied career, he’s shared the ring with striking legends like Superbon, Jomthong Chuwattana, and Singdam Kiatmoo9, who is a training partner to ONE’s #2-ranked flyweight Muay Thai and kickboxing contender Superlek Kiatmoo9.

Additionally, he holds wins over Thailand Muay Thai Champions Chok Eminent Air and Petchasawin Seatransferry.

#3 He’s An Esports Fanatic

When he’s not in the gym, Petchtanong loves to hone his combat skills in an entirely different arena.

The Udon Thani native loves online gaming. In fact, he’s formed a team with Superbon and ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon. The trio appropriately dubbed their team “ONE.”

Their favorite game is “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds,” an online multiplayer battle royale that allows up to 100 people to participate at any given time.

The kicker? As the game progresses, the playing field gets smaller and the competition gets harder – kind of like progressing through ONE’s Athlete Rankings.

#4 He’s A Six-Time World Champion

Petchtanong has won an incredible 16 titles in kickboxing and Muay Thai – and six of those are World Championships.

He’s a two-time WMC Muay Thai World Champion, a two-time WBC Muay Thai World Champion, a 67-kilogram WLF World Cup Champion, and a 67-kilogram IPCC Muay Thai World Champion.

So, it should come as no surprise that a man with that many belts has a fondness for a fine wardrobe.

#5 He Loves Fashion

When not dressed in the traditional garb of a Muay Thai athlete, Petchtanong enjoys getting decked out in something a little fancier.

You have to hand it to him. With a knack for matching contrasting colors, a scarf game that would make Cary Grant jealous, and a sneaker collection to turn heads, the man is polished.

It appears his favorite brand is Gucci, and he definitely knows how to travel in style.
