At 22 years of age, “Super” Sage Northcutt has a bright future ahead of him, and he does not want to waste any time going after his goals as part of the ONE Championship roster.

The martial arts prodigy, who has been in training since he was a toddler, signed with The Home Of Martial Arts in November, and he is excited to hit the ground running when he makes his debut in 2019.

He got his first taste of the big show back in November when he attended ONE: HEART OF THE LION in Singapore, where he witnessed the epic five-round battle between Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon and Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes in the main event.

While Northcutt has been part of numerous high-level martial arts competitions during his career, he says his first encounter with ONE was like nothing he has ever seen before.

“I thought the experience was amazing,” Northcutt says.

“Everyone at ONE Championship was super nice. Singapore was really neat, and then, of course, all of the performances on the show were awesome.

“They had fireworks shooting up when the fighters walked out, and then when one of the guys won the belt, they shot up gold confetti all around the stadium. It was the best show I’ve ever been to.”

Shortly after attending that show, Northcutt decided to make ONE his home, and now he is anxiously awaiting his debut. Inspired by what he saw, he requested that happens at ONE: CALL TO GREATNESS in The Lion City on 22 February.

Northcutt joining the promotion is not just about putting on a great display of martial arts to fans all around the world. He has goals in mind already, including plans to compete in three different sports across the ONE platform.

“What I’m excited about is that not only do I get to fight mixed martial arts, but Mr. Chatri [Sityodtong] said I could also fight Muay Thai and kickboxing,” he reveals.

“I believe I can be the World Champion in ONE Championship in each of those. I think that’s going to be a blast.”

Northcutt has showcased his skills against some of the best athletes in the world already, but he says that he has only scratched the surface when it comes to his full potential.

After turning pro when he was still a teenager, Northcutt was competing at a high level while he was still a full-time student. It was just over a year ago when he decided to put his studies on hold and devote himself to martial arts as his only profession.

The results have been staggering thus far, but Northcutt promises this is just the beginning of his development as a mixed martial artist.

“Basically, I’ve had about one year of solid training since taking a break from school and getting to train full-time at Team Alpha Male,” Northcutt explains.

“It’s only been one year and in each one of my fights, I’ve been improving. In my last fight, I got the knockout, and since then I’ve just been improving.

“I’m only like a year into full-time training, and I’m only 22 years old. Imagine another year down the line, and then another year. I keep improving so fast. I believe that I’m going to be getting really good, really fast.”

Northcutt plans on competing in the welterweight division where Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam just recently cemented his spot as World Champion.

He admits he has not had a ton of time to study everybody in his weight class yet, but Northcutt will be giving them his full attention as he prepares to make his first appearance in the ONE cage in 2019.

“I think they’ve got a whole bunch of great martial artists and I’m going to be watching every event,” Northcutt says.

“Now that they’re going to be broadcasting in the United States, I’ll be able to keep up with every event and learn more about my weight class.”

While he is ready for whatever ONE throws at him, Northcutt hopes that he can quickly rise up the ranks. He feels he is ready to win a World Title in mixed martial arts, Muay Thai, or kickboxing from the get-go.

“I want to be the champion as soon as possible,” Northcutt says.

“I’m going to go out there and perform my very best in my first fight, but I believe I can be champion very soon. I believe that I can be the best in ONE Championship.

“Right now, I believe I could go out there, and I can perform with my best skill set, and in kickboxing and Muay Thai, I could be the champion at this moment.”
