Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes is one of the most confident and forward-thinking heroes in ONE Championship, and he has plenty of reason to maintain a positive attitude.

The Brazilian is the reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion, has held the title since 2013 years, and is currently riding a 13-bout win streak having remained unbeaten since 2010.

Fernandes will attempt to continue his winning ways on Saturday, 24 March, when he defends the title, and his impressive streaks, against ONE Featherweight & Lightweight World Champion Martin Nguyen at ONE: IRON WILL

It takes a true warrior, and incredible discipline, in order to win for as long as the 37-year-old has. Here are four tips from “The Flash” himself about how to keep mentally strong and positive.

#1 Discipline Is Key

Discipline is everything. If you do not have discipline, then you cannot go anywhere. If you want to be a world champion, you have to have good discipline.

How do you do that? Good food, good sleep, a good mindset, and staying around positive people. If you show that discipline, and you are around people that always want to be better, you will be able to achieve whatever goals you may have for sure.

#2 Rid Yourself Of Negative Energy

It doesn’t mater if you have a tough life or you have an easy life. When you are stuck in your mind, saying ‘Poor me, I cannot do better,’ it weighs you down.

I am not talking about martial arts, but in general. The moment I think I can do better for myself, I set out to be a positive person and always seek to improve. That is the way I live.

I never think, ‘Forget this, forget that.’ That is not me, because that is having negative thoughts or having negative energy, and I do not want that. Let it go, improve, and do better every day.

#3 Always Aspire To Improve

I am never the best. I always have something to improve. The moment I think I am the best in the world is the moment I fall. It does not matter who I am or who it is, the moment you think you know everything, you do not have space to improve any more.

#4 Be Humble, And Work As A Team

Some people come into the gym and train, and they might not be on my level. But even though they are not on your level, that does not mean you can look at that person and be like ‘They are below me.’

No, it is not like that. People can always help you to change something for the better. My guys here, they understand me, and they move with me. We move together. Never live in the past and never live in the future; try to live in the moment.
