Bi “Killer Bee” Nguyen could not have imagined a better way to enter ONE Championship that with a first-round TKO.

The 29-year old Vietnamese-American had an auspicious first appearance as she made quick work of Dwi Ani Retno Wulan back in April and she hopes to follow that up with a similar performance next Friday, 12 July at ONE: MASTERS OF DESTINY in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Former "Survivor" star Bi Nguyen makes a fantastic ONE debut, finishing Dwi Ani Retno Wulan via TKO at 3:55 of Round 1!

“It was a good feel-out for me,” Nguyen says about her debut win.

“There’s a lot of new things with the new promotion that I had to get used to, but I was proud of the performance. I think I made a few small mistakes that I can fix, but a first-round TKO – I couldn’t ask for anything better.”

From the day she signed with The Home Of Martial Arts, Nguyen stated that she wanted to make a great first impression.

Now she has done that with a dominant victory in her debut, the Tiger Muay Thai representative is motivated to build a winning streak and climb up the atomweight rankings.

“I think it was a good introduction and I want to keep making those statements until I’m given a chance to get close to the title,” Nguyen says.

“Right before my debut, I was going through a lot of things in my life. I was close to retirement. Then I got that call from ONE Championship, and that comeback fight was so amazing – it couldn’t have come at a better time.

“I think it’s woken up this new drive and a new beast inside of me.”

To get to 2-0 in her ONE Championship career, Nguyen will have to go through Myanmar’s Bozhena “Toto” Antoniyar, who comes into the contest off a second-round TKO victory in March.

The 24-year-old from Yangon is a two-time national boxing champion and hits very hard – she has the fastest women’s finish in ONE history to prove it – and her upcoming opponent has a lot of respect for her.

However, “Killer Bee” also believes she has what it takes to answer whatever comes her way in the Circle and emerge with her hand raised.

“She keeps a high pace. She is very aggressive. She has a lot of heart,” Nguyen says.

“I think I’m more skilled than her and I for sure have more experience than her. I fought higher-level opponents than she has, but I’ve just been focused on being in good shape for this fight because Burmese people are warriors. They have a lot of heart.

“I’m expecting a lot of fight from her and a high-paced fight, but I’m also planning on taking her out.”

Nguyen believes that this will be a tougher battle than her debut because of the aggression her rival has displayed throughout her young career.

That is a positive thing for the 29-year-old because the one thing Nguyen can guarantee is that fans watching around the world will be treated to an exciting contest for as long as it lasts.

“An opponent like this will give you a more challenging fight because I can say I’m more skilled than her, but a fight’s a fight,” Nguyen explains.

“Anything can happen, especially with someone with this much grit and this much heart. It’s a hard fight, but with that being said, taking her out would be much more gratifying than my last opponent.

“I believe if I do what I need to do and I use my skills, I will definitely take her out. If I don’t get the finish, you guys will be looking at an amazing three-round bout.”
