4 Explosive Knockouts From The World Champions Of ONE: A NEW ERA

Folayang Shocks The World

Eduard “Landslide” Folayang and Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki will meet for the second time in the main event, but the roles are reversed. Aoki is the hungry challenger, and Folayang is the reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion, although the Filipino will be aiming for a similar result.

“Landslide” knocked out his Japanese rival early in the third round of their World Title bout at ONE: DEFENDING HONOR in November 2016, and it was one of the biggest upsets in the promotion’s history.

Aoki — a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and judo black belt — was edging ahead with his grappling, but as Folayang grew into the contest, he became more confident. When “Tobikan Judan” looked for another takedown at the start of round three, the Team Lakay representative aimed a jumping knee at his opponent’s head, which hit the mark.

The Japanese athlete continued to pressure, but he had been hurt by the strike. “Landslide” worked in his underhooks, turned the defending World Champion over, and then started to land his punches.

As Aoki tried to post on his hand to stand up, Folayang unloaded a devastating knee, which slumped his rival back to the canvas. The Filipino followed up with a salvo of right hands to seal the deal.

Now, it is the Evolve representative’s turn to try and topple the division’s leader as they square off in a rematch at ONE’s inaugural blockbuster in Japan.

“The Panda” Unleashes Her Diverse Striking Arsenal

ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan burst into The Home Of Martial Arts with her ferocious hands, which were honed during her time on the Chinese national boxing team.

In her second World Title defense against Samara “Marituba” Santos last September, she showcased her wider striking repertoire to pick up a memorable finish.

She put the pressure on Santos from the opening bell with flurries of strikes, but the Brazilian challenger was up to the task and fired back.

Early in round three, Xiong unleashed a spinning back kick, and while it only grazed her opponent, it was still effective.

The heel smashed into Santos’ liver. She tried her best to maintain a poker face, but as “The Panda” stepped in with another right hand, it was clear the bout was over. “Marituba” signaled that she could no longer carry on, before dropping to the canvas.

Xiong defends her crown for the third time in a rescheduled bout with ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee at the Ryogoku Kokugikan.

Aung La N Sang‘s Finest Uppercut

Two-division ONE World Champion Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang and Ken Hasegawa will also take part in a World Title rematch, and fans could not be more excited.

Not only did their five-round battle at ONE: SPIRIT OF A WARRIOR in June achieve the honor of the greatest bout in the promotion’s history, but it also ended with this remarkable finish.

“The Burmese Python” always performs well in front of the Yangon faithful, but he had to dig deep against his Japanese rival. They engaged in furious stand-up action, but it was the reigning middleweight king who had more in the tank going into the final round.

Hasegawa’s punches were visibly slower and more labored as he felt the effects of the hard battle. Aung La N Sang found a way through his opponent’s defenses with a short one-two combination, then a right uppercut, which made his foe stumble.

As the Japanese warrior fell forward with his arms outstretched to try and find some security in the clinch, the Myanmar hero landed his final blow — a crushing right uppercut that ended the instant classic after 23 minutes of non-stop action.

They will run it back in Tokyo, where the ONE Middleweight World Title challenger will have the home crowd on his side.

“The Silencer” Displays His Left Hooks

ONE Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon has an array of magnificent knockouts to his credit thanks to his powerful wushu stylings. But his stoppage of Spain’s David Aranda in December 2013 is one of his most memorable finishes to date.

Belingon marched forward in his trademark style, winging hard punches and looking for the finish with every strike. Aranda could not find a way out of the melee, and he began to look flustered at the constant pressure.

The finish came as both men were in close quarters, holding a collar tie around each other’s neck. Belingon continued his barrage of punches with a double left hook, the latter of which sent Aranda face-first to the canvas.

In the fourth World Title contest on the ONE: A NEW ERA bill, “The Silencer” meets his old rival Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes in a trilogy bout for the ONE Bantamweight World Championship.
