The Top Highlights From ONE: A NEW BREED III

Muay Thai superstar Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy battles Magnus Andersson in a ONE Super Series World Title fight

ONE Championship closed out its ‘A NEW BREED’ event series on Friday, 18 September, and it was certainly a night to remember.

The previously recorded show was filled with memorable debuts, a history-making knockout, and a mesmerizing ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title defense.

With that world-class martial arts action in the books, we’ve picked our top three highlights from ONE: A NEW BREED III.

#1 Petchmorakot Defends Gold In Style

Reigning ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy continued to establish his legacy with a third-round TKO over his latest challenger, Magnus “Crazy Viking” Andersson.

The Thai star looked crisp and comfortable from the outset. And in the second round, the Petchyindee Academy representative felt the bout tip in his direction and opened up with more offense to put the pressure on his Swedish rival.

Petchmorakot then increased the pressure even further in the third frame, leading to his second successful World Title defense.

The biggest moment came as Andersson found himself on his back foot and Petchmorakot stepped forward with a laser of a straight left that put “Crazy Viking” on rubber legs and forced the referee to give him an eight-count.

Although the Swede answered the count, Petchmorakot quickly landed another straight left on the button, and the referee stepped in to stop the action and save Andersson from additional harm.

The Thai hero showed precisely why he is the best featherweight Muay Thai striker on the planet with a dominant showcase of his skill set. He backs down from no challenge and has risen to the occasion each time in The Home Of Martial Arts.

#2 Capitan Makes History In 6 Seconds

If you blinked, you missed it. Capitan Petchyindee Academy put himself in the record books when he delivered the fastest knockout in ONE Super Series history in the night’s co-main event.

A blazing straight right hand came down the centerline in the bout’s first exchange and landed flush on the chin of Petchtanong Petchfergus for a stunning KO.

The historic ending officially clocked in at six seconds.

With that jaw-dropping debut, the three-time Muay Thai World Champion moved his incredible record to 141-40.

#3 Davytan Upsets Bangpleenoi In Debut

Yurik “Mee Khao Jomhot” Davtyan beamed with confidence throughout his ONE Super Series debut, as he delivered a memorable performance that culminated in a second-round finish of Bangpleenoi Petchyindee Academy.

Late in the first round, the Armenian-Russian left Bangpleenoi trying to cover up against a seven-punch combination. The combo was capped off by a sweeping right hook that connected cleanly on the Thai’s chin and sent him to the canvas before the bell.

Upon seeing his opponent still feeling the effects of those shots, Davtyan was quick to attack with a crushing hook-ladened combination in the second.

It was a left hook to the body that forced Bangpleenoi to drop his hands, allowing the Revolution Muay Thai Phuket athlete to land flush on the jaw with another left hook. That shot ultimately finished the job.

The official ending came just seven seconds into round two and moved Davtyan’s career record to 40-14.
